This film revolves around Sota Ijima, a young man with an exceptional sense of language and curiosity, who comes from Edo to the cosmopolitan city of Nagasaki in pursuit of the mystery of his father's disappearance. A smuggling case unique to Nagasaki occurs, and the appearance of a mysterious man, Yusei Kozu, depicts how Sota becomes involved in an unexpected scheme.
